I can’t believe we’ve been living here for two years, visited Point Reyes so many times, and never hiked the Tomales Point Trail. Our hiking book called it the best hike in California for wildlife. I’m not sure if that’s true but it was exceptional. We saw hawks, buzzards and gophers, but the tule elk were the highlight of the ten mile there-and-back trail. We saw too herds, and watching from a distance they reminded me of stags on a Scottish moor. I can’t wait to go back in search of coyotes, bobcats, seals and whales.
